My favorite verse is John 3:16

For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.

Today in class we are going to be talking about Christmas. I will read the devotion to you right now. Claire is 12 years old, and she can't wait tell Christmas because she gets to get a new ipad air and a Dsisney Cruise with her family. Claire can't wait, because Christmas is tomorrow, so her parenst tell her that Claire has to go to bed right now, because it's going to be  a big day tomorrow. She wakes up early and she sees that there are presents under the tree and the Christmas tree is lit up, and her parents our in the kitchen. She races downstiars with her sisters. She sits by the tree with her sisters and her parents. Her dad gives Claire her first gift, and she opens it, and she sees that there is nothing in the box. She looks at her dad and asks him why it's empty. Her dad looks at her and says he's guilty and he gave her the empty box. Claire asks her dad why the box in empty and her dad starts talking about it, this is what he says, " I gave you that empty box because I wanted you to realize that it's Jesus's birthday, not our birthday. And God loves to have everybody get gifts, but have you ever thought that Jesus sometimes feels this way, it's his birthday, and he doesn't have any gifts that people give him? Sometimes we all get up about the gifts, but it's not about the gifts, it's about Jesus." What about you, do you like the presents and get up about them and forget it's Jesus's birthday not yours? Claire tells her dad, I am going to give my gifts to the Lord, you don't give them the gifts, you give him the time and care.

Let's pray: " Dear God we thank you that we can celebrate Christmas with you and we pray that we will remember that it's your birthday not ours and we pray that we won't get up about all the gifts and we thank you that we can celebrate Christmas with you! Amen.
